Becoming a Caring-Transformative Physiotherapist The book focuses on physiotherapy professional development and professional education and forces that shape physiotherapy education. The work is theoretically and methodically located within critical, feminist framings. Data was produced through narrative inquiry and a multi- sectoral data production approach. Current disciplinary trends and shortcomings of the physiotherapy undergraduate curriculum are illustrated, whilst highlighting that which is considered valuable and progressive. Caring is identified as the link between transformation and physiotherapy professional development. The proposed model advances a view of what it could mean to be an agent of transformation in South Africa within the healthcare system. Located within multiple framings of caring it re- casts the physiotherapy professional previously located within a medical model into a practitioner with a broadened view of practice and professional accountability within a critical-feminist framing.
