The community college, now over 100 years old, began with the singular mission of preparing students for transfter to the univsrity. Throughout the 20th Century, the community college has expanded its missions to serve increasingly complex and comprehensive community needs. As a result, the community college provided a strong foundation as a unique social institutional to advance democracy through community engagment, access and the multiple missions in 20th century America.
