This book describes various advanced techniques for successful modeling & simulation of fission product activity (FPA) in primary circuits of typical Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs). Fission product activity is ranked as the second leading source of radiation exposure to nuclear power plant workers. This book describes both deterministic as well as dynamic approached for simulation of fission product activity. Details of mathematical models and the formulation are provided and both power transients & flow rate perturbations are discussed. Various simulation techniques including kinetic modeling & comparative study of various numerical schemes that are discussed under transient states. Arising from random nature of fuel pin failures during power plant operation, a novel approach of Monte Carlo based stochastic simulation of fission product spikes, is introduced in this book. Comparisons of the simulated results show good agreement with the operational data. suitable for graduate students and researchers, this book provides in-depth knowledge regarding effective methods for simulation of FPA.
