A Study of the Effect of Inclusion of Students with Disabilities. Edition No. 1
VDM Publishing House, June 2008, Pages: 88
In this study, the research question, how does inclusion of reading and mathematics scores, graduation and participation rates of students with disabilities effect a school 's ability to achieve AYP in Prince George 's County, Maryland and the District of Columbia Comprehensive Public High Schools was examined for each school district during SY 2002-2003 and SY 2003-2004. This study was a secondary data analysis of the assessment scores of students with and without disabilities in comprehensive public high schools . This study investigated whether the including or excluding students with disabilities in statewide assessments effect a school 's ability to achieve AYP. The results of the study from each school district revealed that reading and mathematics assessment scores of students with and without disabilities in most schools were below the required AMO. When students with disabilities scores were excluded, there was a small increase in scores. The increase in scores did not enable most schools to achieve the annual measurable objective needed for adequate yearly progress in Prince George 's County and the District of Columbia Public High Schools.
