This book focused on the creative writing produced by gifted fourth grade students in a dual language program. The purpose of this book was to analyze the creative writing of gifted children in a dual language program called Project Sol sponsored by the Department of Advanced Academic Services in South Texas. This book focused on ten fourth grade gifted children learning in a town on the Texas-Mexico border. The study employed several types of research methods. The researcher met and looked at responses to questions from different students in the fourth grade via a researcher developed survey questionnaire concerning their experiences in the dual language program under investigation. This research specifically addressed the following questions: How does the child's success or lack of success in writing contribute to the child's overall success in school? The children studied showed that when a child had success in writing, he was more successful in school. What types of sentences are fourth graders producing? At the beginning of the school year, students began with simple sentences and as they progressed they began to use compound and complex sentences in their writing.
