'Heal This' is a study that explores the issues and experiences
of gay men in a medical system that is
often prejudiced and unaccommodating to their needs. Holsapple draws upon
interview and participant observation data as well as her own
experiences as a nurse during the early years of the AIDS crisis to
examine societal changes pertinent to gay men and their health care. Focusing on
the problems gay men in one U.S. community encountered during the early years
of the AIDS crisis and since, Holsapple describes what gay friendly health
care might look like in this country.
