What happens when public service broadcasting meets the internet?

In the nineteen nineties public service broadcasting around the world was under threat. In Australia, funds were being cut from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), and the ABC was spoken of in terms of crisis. And yet, at this very moment, the ABC developed an online presence that became one of the most successful in the world. This book asks: can the understanding of the broader ABC be enhanced by an analysis of the implementation of ABC Online?

This book uses a Deleuzian and Foucauldian framework to illuminate how we might rethink the ABC using ABC Online. It is thus both an empirical examination of aspects of ABC Online and a theoretical conversation, which uses ABC Online to think with and against Foucauldian and Deleuzian/Guattarian analytics.
