The need to understand the perceptions of
minority females has grown, as American schools
become more ethnically diverse and multilingual. This
suggests that female and minority principals play a
role in the achievement of students. Despite this,
the research on educational leadership largely
excludes the perspectives of women and minorities,
and research shows, that they continue to be under
represented in educational leadership positions.
An effort to address the lack of minority
females in educational leadership must occur. This
book will focus on the insights of 13 Asian American
female school administrators, who successfully
negotiated the journey to educational administration.
It will illuminate their common experiences,
insights, as well as identify their perceived
barriers and enablers to success. Understanding the
viewpoint of Asian Females is a critical factor in
improving efforts of schools and universities towards
increasing their numbers in educational leadership.
