Over the last decades, significant advances in power
semiconductor device technologies and
low-cost/high-speed control processors along with
demands of industries have reached beyond standard
ac/ac power converters with voltage-source inverters
fed from diode rectifiers. Power electronics
converters have been matured to stages toward
improving utility interface, compact physical
realization, and increased high-power handling
capability. This book addresses ac/ac power
converters with specific superiorities: converter
type utility interface to obtain unity power factor,
a matrix converter to realize compact size converter,
and a current-fed converter with high-power handling
capability. Based on the converter structures, this
