In this study, the potential for a wastewater recycling scheme in the Guadalquivir river basin, located in southern Spain, was examined. Spatial analysis was used to identify candidate territories with the necessary criteria: irrigation zones in close proximity to large population centres, sufficient wastewater treatment infrastructure and geographical characteristics conducive to the implementation of a wastewater recycling scheme.
