The evolution of sensor technology and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) research makes easy integration of RFID data and sensing data into same RF tag, called sensor tag. The diverse RFID applications and services necessitate collection and manipulation of integrated RFID-sensing information at the same system. Systems deploying sensor tag can achieve both ID data and sensing data simultaneously. Various applications require generation of tag status reporting, sensing threshold alarms, controlling of tag modes and states, and extraction of sensing data from tag memory. However, existing standards proposed by EPCglobal and ISO are limited only to RFID data manipulation and lacks efficient management of sensor tags. Therefore, a system is required to control and manage Sensor tag using existing standards. To resolve the above mentioned problems, this book proposes a new system architecture for Sensor Tag Management (SenTM). SenTM provides four types of service modules and APIs for efficient sensor tag management. It is a layered system based on EPCglobal Architecture Framework that provides compatibility and global interoperability of the system.
