This work is meant to give a broad view about the usage of words and expressions that include a proper personal name in the English language, along with the influence of personal names in the coinage of new words and expressions. The scope of this work is wide, as it covers many aspects of life and activity. An eponym is ‘a person after whom a discovery, invention, place, etc., is named or thought to be named'. Here is a work where you can find hundreds of such words and expressions where a personal name appears, sometimes belonging to a historical and well-known figure, others to an anonymous individual. They have contributed to enriching the English language and making it more lively and colourful.
