Over the last two decades, several influential
developments have posed challenges for financial
institutions and commercial banks
;economic growth, movements toward
financial reforms and deregulation. Most, if not
all, of these areas derive new challenges and
certainly create a crucial impact on banks'
profitability for most financial market
participants, including Islamic banks and
traditional banks. Overall, despite the relevant
coverage of literature toward banks profitability,
limited research work is undertaken to examine
Islamic and traditional banks'profitability in
developing countries. This study expands the
literature on banking and finance in the context of
commercial bank profitability by identifying the
determinants of banks’ profitability for Islamic
banks and traditional banks. Determinants of Bank
profitability is an invaluable addition to the
growing knowledge in the banking efficiency and will
indeed contribute to making the banking sector works
more effectively. Industry professionals,
supervisors and financial sector policy makers will
find the work comprehensive, and analytical for
analyzing the bank profitability.
