India is one of the major players in world garment trade and the the garment industry is one of the largest employers in India. Technologies can help manufacturers gain competitiveness and, therefore, technology adoption has emerged as an important determinant of competitiveness in the quota free trade environment. However, very little is known about the status of technology adoptions and related activities by garment manufacturers in developing countries and surrounding factors. In the post quota environment, what are the driving factors of technology adoption? Who are the leaders of adoption? What are the reasons and conditions of adoption?
