Information Systems (IS) are used the world over. However, the usage of IS is not always effective in relation to meeting organizational objectives. This book therefore looks at the key issues that affect the effectiveness of IS, and how a particular organization, the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) makes use of IS and the challenges encountered. PPADB is an organization dealing in procurement and asset disposal for central government in Botswana. A number of key issues are reviewed to illustrate their contribution to IS implementation and usage, and these include; the role of IS in organizations, and what the effectiveness of IS mean; IS planning; Project governance; IS/IT governance. The review also includes an evaluation of the effectiveness of change management programs as the implementation of IS inevitably brings about change. Further review was carried out on organizational culture to determine how this can affect the implementation and usage of IS.
