In The Times, Guardian and Daily Telegraph, the portrayals of Jerusalem were found to be passed through multiple filters, many of which are either industrial routine -based or Israeli -made filters. For the majority of the time covered, news about Jerusalem was reported from the Israeli side, either West Jerusalem or Tel Aviv. Another barrier was that of language, created by the hiring of the available English- speaking Jews or Israelis, the accessibility of the Israeli politicians and their proactive approach in feeding the news media with news releases. All news about the Holy City, its population, places, Israeli actions, policies and strategies had been predominantly filtered through the Israeli lenses since the Israeli troops controlled the East sector of the city, with its Palestinian -– Muslim and Christian – population, holy sites, and neighbourhoods in June 1967. Ever since, Jerusalem has been considered newsworthy only when it has been the subject of a political crisis, confrontations and violence or an obstacle to achieving peace.
