The literature presents the research results of a
three-dimensional analysis of a concrete barrier and
anchor slab on a reinforced soil (MSE) retaining wall
system under AASHTO impact test loading. It has the
potential to assist practicing engineers and
researchers in understanding the characterization of
a concrete barrier, anchor slab, and reinforced soil
retaining wall assembly under an impact load
condition.

This literature investigates the stresses on the
concrete barrier with anchor slab, as well as stress
distribution on the concrete barrier that is under
impact loads specified by the AASHTO code. A
discussion of the pattern of the potential yield zone
on concrete barrier is included in this literature.
Few research models are established to compare the
yield zones and stress distributions. Based on
research results, this literature questions the yield
line theory defined by AASHTO. It could potentially
allow practicing engineers to understand the design
concept of the yield line defined by AASHTO and
produce new topics for future research.
