The adoption of e-business is a strategic issue to
gain and maintain a competitive advantage. However,
despite the optimistic forecasts, firms are still
wary of the promised benefits of the technology. In
comparison with the developed countries, the adoption
of e-business by Asian businesses is still not
encouraging. In view of that, this book discusses the
antecedents and consequences of e-business adoption
among Malaysian manufacturing firms based on a
nation-wide research. The study substantiate that
firm technology motivation is important in
determining firm selection and adoption of the
various e-business initiatives. Given the importance
of the technology markets and the financial stakes
involved, this book would be useful to assist
managers in selecting the appropriate e-business
technology with respect to the firm’s technology
motivation. Alternatively, from the perspective of
the technology seller firm, understanding the
technology motivation of their customers is crucial
in developing effective marketing and segmentation
strategies for their products.
