Regardless of the technological challenges for
exploitation of unconventional gas reservoirs, the
mathematical modeling of such reservoirs is
challenging due to complex physical processes which
are involved over the course of reservoir depletion.
The purpose of this book is to present the
development of models for prediction of reservoir
performance using analytical approach for two
particular types of unconventional gas reservoirs
consisting (1)hydrate-capped gas reservoirs, and
(2)dry CBM reservoirs. In particular, the boundary
dominated and transient flow models for gas
production from a hydrate-capped gas reservoir, as
well as a production model for analysis of a dry CBM
reservoir are presented. The models presented here
can be easily programmed on spreadsheet and can be
used as an engineering tool for evaluating the role
of hydrates and adsorbed gas in improving the
productivity and extending life of hydrate-capped gas
reservoirs and dry CBM reservoirs, respectively.
