In recent years, pastoralists and graziers in the Upper Gascoyne and Mt Magnet regions of Western Australia have been forced to make extensive changes in the way they make an income. Driven by a wide range of complex factors, pastoralists and graziers have made changes in the type of animals they produce and the way they manage the land. Now, a growing number of claims for multiple use of these rangelands are fuelling their fear and concern. This book investigates the multiple forces driving change in these regions and how the historical development of the pastoral and grazing industry continues to influence the sustainability of changes today. Personal comments from present-day pastoralists and graziers are interwoven into the story to illustrate their perceptions and practices.
