Automation of Mobile Network Management. Edition No. 1
VDM Publishing House, August 2010, Pages: 100
The configuration and management of mobile networks is time-consuming and prone to human error. This book shows ways to use techniques from computer science to simplify and automate the process of managing large mobile networks. A graph-based algorithm is presented to automatically compute a configuration parameter of radio cells in an LTE (Long-Term-Evolution) mobile network, the 3GPP's successor of UMTS. A policy-based approach to automate management tasks is illustrated by using the management of this parameter as an example. The parameter is the physical-layer cell identity, which is used to differentiate between the signals of different radio cells.
