Reforms in Credit Market, Performance of Crops and Capital Formation. Edition No. 1

VDM Publishing House, August 2010, Pages: 124

This book is related to the reforms in credit market and private capital formation in agriculture. Various reforms have taken place to improve the outreach of credit institutions. In 1904, first phase of institutional credit delivery system started with the introduction of co-operatives. In 1969 with the nationalization of 14 commercial banks, second phase of agricultural credit market reform started. Third phase of credit market reforms started with the recommendations of Narsimham Committee on Financial Sector Reforms which include deregulation of interest rate, structural changes in the rural credit institutions and phasing out of directed lending. Many other changes have also been ushered in the agricultural credit market in this phase. Understanding of these reforms and their effect on capital formation is the main objective of this book.
