This work is an effort to find out the perception of Pakistani educated youth regarding the issue of violence. The knowledge of university students was assessed regarding different types of violence. It was tried by the researchers to dugout the in-depth details regarding prevalence of emotional, verbal, physical, and sexual violence in the lives of the respondents. For the purpose, 500 postgraduate students from the 11 universities in five major cities of Pakistan were selected, 250 male and 250 female students were interviewed. The results showed very high rate of knowledge and experience of different types of violence in almost all areas of Pakistan. Study revealed that the use of violence among the respondents was also at very significant level. Violence was mostly considered as disciplining technique by Pakistani youth. Experience and use of violence varied by age in both the genders. It was also found that gender roles and masculinity related norms play crucial roles as far as violence related behavior is concerned.
