Agriculture is the mainstay of the economy of Pakistan. It employs 48% of total labor force at the national level and its contribution to GDP and exports earnings is 24 and 75% respectively. Wheat keeps a unique position among the cultivated crops. Wheat supplies about 73% of the calories and proteins of the average diet (Heyne, 1987). Secondly, it provides more carbohydrates and protein in the world diet than any other crop. Thirdly, the world trade in wheat exceeds trade in all other crops combined.Wild oats (Anena fatua L.) is one of the most aggressive weeds of wheat crop in Pakistan like elsewhere in the world. Wild oats has increased tremendously in the rainfed and irrigated areas of the country as well as elsewhere in the world.
