Malaria is a dreadful disease of the tropics. The malarial parasite developed resistance to all the traditional antimalarial drugs till now. In recent years, from a Chinese plant Artemisia annua, artemisinin derivatives were synthesized which are potential antimalarial drugs. The present work aims at understanding the effect of Artemisinin derivatives Artemether and Arteether which are potential schizonticidal antimalarial drugs. The haemoglobin content, RBC count, serum Albumin and plaque levels were decreased during infectious condition. But WBC count and neutrophilic count were increased during infection of malaria. However after treatment these levels have become normal. Malaria prophylaxis was also studied with these drugs. Finally, malaria protection was observed and these drugs can be recommended for Prophylaxis to malaria. Hence Artemether and Arteether have cleared parasites rapidly with 0% and showed no side effects and considered as potential antimalarial drugs. So End Malaria Now!
