This report represents an overview of the First National Nutrition Survey (FNNES2000). This survey was a voluntary cross-sectional population survey which provides information on food and nutrient intakes, daily diary on intake of food over one week, and nutrition-related clinical measures of Palestinians on a nationally representative sample of 3620 Palestinians living in selected households and aged 18 –64 years. Data were collected over the 12-month period October 1999 to October 2000. FPNNS2000 is the first and most comprehensive food and nutrition survey ever undertaken on the Palestinian population. The survey data were collected in the homes of respondents and included: a first and second 24 hour diet recalls; a daily diary on intake of foods over one week that included questions on food preparation habits; physical measurements including weight, height, hip to waist ratio; and blood pressure.
