Water resources development and management acquired new dimensions in Pakistan. Recently, the Government of Pakistan has taken strategic initiatives that primarily focused on governance, decentralization and participation of the farmers by transforming the Provincial Irrigation Department to the Irrigation and Drainage Authority. To assess the impact of management transfer on the performance of the irrigation system a database oriented irrigation management information system technique has been developed and utilized. The study presents systematic analysis of the interaction between irrigation design, operation and its effect on performance of irrigation system. The finding and recommendations derived from the case study have wider validity and application for future modernization of the similar environments. This book is help full for those involved in teaching and researcher of the socio-technical aspects of irrigation in general and irrigation engineering planning, design and operation in particular.
