Eventhough the Afar politics is relatively a new development, it clearly holds one of the keys to the future of the sub-region inter-state relations. The strategic location of the Afars underlines the seriousness of the Afar question in the “Afar Triangle' of the sub-region. In one way or another, the politics of the 'AfarTriangle' in the Horn of Africa holds a serious implication on the inter-state relations of Ethiopia,Djibouti and Eritrea ranging from positive to negative ones. To avert the negative implications of the Afar ethno-politics in the 'Afar triangle', the concerned governments ought to be sympathetic to their demand and addressing their concerns. As the political developments are surfacing themselves currently it seems that these governments need to reconsider their modes of operations. Above all, the Afars' pastoral way of life should be treated differently in addressing their severe political and economic problems. Hence this book is intended to assess the overall Afar political problems and the implications in the Horn of Africa.
