The global and diverse phenomenon of dropout of high-performance sport is a fact in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany, and can be reduced. That has been found out during this graduation thesis commissioned by the 'Landessportbund Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.V.'. In literature review past researches have been analysed. From this, new research has been undertaken by means of longitudinal study, interviews with regional coaches and a qualitative survey with dropout cases. As a result of that main reasons of a premature dropout in the nine core sports, namely athletics, boxing, canoeing, diving, rowing, sailing, short-track, triathlon and volleyball female could be identified. Although the commissioner has little power in this whole process an approach reducing the dropout rate has been created. After a long time, this work finally provides an actual insight into dropout of high-performance sport in Germany.
