Abstract
Standard & Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'AA-' rating, and stable outlook, to the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority, D.C.'s (MWAA) series 2008A airport system revenue bonds. At the same time, Standard & Poor's affirmed its 'AA-' underlying rating (SPUR), with a stable outlook, on the MWAA's outstanding airport system revenue bonds. MWAA also may issue up to $150 million in additional debt in July, the structure of which has yet to be determined and will be evaluated when more information is available. The rating on the MWAA's airport system revenue bonds reflects the authority's solid market and service area strengths, combined with large capital requirements; weaker dominant airline tenants; and a higher cost structure relative to many U.S. airport systems....
