Abstract
The 'AA' standard long-term rating and Standard & Poor's underlying rating (SPUR) on Prince George's County, Md.'s GO consolidated public improvement refunding series 2004 bonds, and outstanding GO bonds reflects: A substantial and diversifying local economic base with steady growth trends and participation in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area economy; Continued strong financial operations; A large tax base that has increased at a modest rate and that exhibits no taxpayer concentration; and A low debt burden with faster-than-average amortization. These factors are tempered by a real property levy limit, wealth levels that are only near the state average, and a large $1.4 billion, five-year capital improvement plan (CIP) that is expected to be largely financed by future debt.
