Abstract Standard & Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'AA' rating, and stable outlook, to Bexar County, Texas' series 2005 limited-tax GO refunding bonds. The rating reflects the county's: Diverse economy with a strong military presence and a growing services sector that includes tourism and health services; Solid property tax base growth, averaging more than 7% annually since fiscal 2000; and Moderate overall debt burden due mostly to the significant issuance of underlying entities. The county's below-average wealth and income levels mitigate, in part, these strengths. The county's ad valorem taxing powers secure the bonds.
