Australian Transparency and Disclosure Standards Well Above Average Nov 01

Abstract MELBOURNE (Standard & Poor's) Nov. 16, 2001-- Australian companies have some of the highest levels of corporate transparency and disclosure in Asia Pacific, according to Standard & Poor's inaugural Transparency and Disclosure Standards survey. The survey compares the transparency and disclosure levels of companies included in the S&P Asia Pacific 100 Index, based on year 2000 corporate reporting. Standard & Poor's found that Australian companies scored some of the highest rankings in the Asia Pacific region, all showing average to above-average levels of disclosure. Australian companies that performed highly in the rankings included household names such as Amcor Ltd., AMP Ltd., Westpac Banking Corp. and Woolworths Ltd.
