Abstract
TOKYO (Standard & Poor's) March 27, 2009--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today that its ratings on Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. (MUFG; A/Stable/--) and its subsidiaries, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd. (A+/Stable/A-1) and Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corp. (A+/Stable/A-1), would not be affected by yesterday's announcement that MUFG and U.S.-based Morgan Stanley (A/Negative/A-1) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to form a securities joint venture by merging their securities firms in Japan. The two securities firms are Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Co. Ltd. (NR) and Morgan Stanley Japan Securities Co. Ltd. (NR).
