Software Solutions for Engaging Employees in Sustainability

New software solutions have emerged to help corporation and institutions effectively manage and engage employes to achieve sustainability goals. This report profiles how four software solutions are helping to engage and motivate employees in sustainability. Although still nascent, the market has a real need for employee engagement solutions to help enable an organization's sustainability strategy and programs.
In a growing trend, many corporations and institutions are establishing broad sustainability goals. And while it is important that employees work in alignment with these goals, there is frequently a gap in understanding about the way high-level goals apply today-to-day operations. Employees often need help translating general objectives and interest in sustainability into actions that make a difference for the organization.
Managers are using many different communication and engagement methods to motivate and align employees toward sustainability goals. At the same time, new software solutions are appearing in the market to help in the process of individually educating and engaging employees.
Four of these emerging software solutions are highlighted in this brief, from AngelPoints, CloudApps, GreenNurture, and Tripos Software. Solutions usually include an education and/or communications aspect but differ in how they engage and motivate employees. Varied employee engagement strategies include interactive learning displays, social networking–based engagement, idea submittals and ranking, personal pledges and goal tracking, corporate aggregate goal tracking, and competitions among different groups.
Although still nascent, the market has a real need for employee engagement solutions to help enable an organization's sustainability strategy and programs. Providers must continue to demonstrate how their solutions contribute to measurable results and attainment of organizational goals related to sustainability.
