Very high likelihood of government support Strong position in the small and midsize enterprise (SME) lending market Relatively low exposure to construction and real-estate development projects Weak retail deposit base Highly concentrated loan portfolio in SMEs Privatization risk The ratings on Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK; A/Stable/A-1) reflect a very high likelihood of government support, IBK's strong market position in the SME lending market, and its relatively low exposure to construction and real-estate development projects. On the other hand, the ratings are constrained by its relatively weak retail deposit base, highly concentrated loan portfolio in SMEs, and privatization risk.
