Abstract
NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's CreditWire) March 20, 2000--Standard & Poor's today affirmed its ratings on Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. (Burlington) and units (see list below). The outlook is developing. The affirmations follow the March 17 announcement by the Surface Transportation Board (STB) that it has issued a decision directing large railroads (including Burlington and Canadian National Railway Co., whose proposed merger was announced in late 1999) not to pursue further merger activities until the STB has adopted new rules governing merger proceedings. The STB indicated that it would issue rules in 15 months. The decision was issued following four days of hearings triggered by the Burlington-Canadian National merger proposal.
