Aircraft Debt Ratings of Eight Airlines Placed on CreditWatch Negative Jan 03

Abstract NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's) Jan. 31, 2003-- Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today it placed its ratings on equipment trust certificates and enhanced equipment trust certificates of eight airlines on CreditWatch with negative implications. The airlines are Alaska Airlines Inc. (BB/Negative/--), America West Airlines Inc. (B-/Negative/--), Atlantic Coast Airlines Holdings Inc. (B-/Negative/--), Continental Airlines Inc. (B+/Negative/--), Delta Air Lines Inc. (BB/Negative/--), Federal Express Corp. (BBB/Stable/--), Northwest Airlines Inc. (BB-/Negative/--), and Southwest Airlines Co. (A/Negative/--). Ratings of several other airlines, including ratings on aircraft-backed debt, are already on CreditWatch, and will be included in an upcoming review. Ratings on Northwest Airlines Inc.'s NWA Trust No. 1 aircraft notes and enhanced equipment trust certificates of American Trans Air Inc. (B-/Negative/--)...
