Standard & Poor's Ratings Services affirmed its 'AA' issuer credit rating on AARP, D.C.; its 'AAA/A-1+' long-term rating on AARP's series 2001A taxable notes; and 'AA' long-term rating on AARP's outstanding debt. The 'AA' rating reflects AARP's: Immense and loyal membership base of more than 36 million, which represents more than 40% of all Americans 50 years or older; Favorable demographic trends; Good historical operating performance; Significant revenue diversity and flexible cost structure; Sizable investment portfolio, with cash and investments totaling more than $1.4 billion as of December 2005; Strategic plan launched in 2004, which is beginning to achieve its goals of delivering value to members and leading positive social change for persons older than 50 as they age; and...
