Abstract The U.K. banking system continues to be among the most profitable in the world, with diverse revenue sources and consistently excellent cost efficiency, accompanied by good asset quality indicators in recent years. The satisfactory outlook for bank asset quality reflects the comparatively healthy state of the U.K. economy and the relatively low exposure to recent headline global credit losses. U.K. banks remain predominantly focused on their domestic market and the financial well being of the U.K. consumer is the key consideration for the future health of the U.K. banking system.
