Nanotoxicology: Materials & Methods
Future Medicine Ltd, July 2011, Pages: 184
“While there is a growing and emerging sense that well-engineered, novel-property nanomaterials will be tested and used more and more in the future for wide-ranging biomedical applications, there is also a growing concern that there could be unusual and unexpected toxicity. This toxicity could be due to the very novel properties – higher reactivity, unusual complex shapes and accessibility to cells crossing biological barriers – that the human-made materials have in the nanoscale. Therefore, it is urgently essential to establish a new toxicology study different or modified from conventional ways. In this respect, this Special Focus Issue of the peer-reviewed journal Nanomedicine will provide the chance to read and discuss the most recent and important researches toward nanotoxicology in terms of new methods, biological models and experimental concerns.“
