Yogurt & Similar Product Processing in the UK
IBISWorld, March 2012, Pages: 21
Domestic processing plummets: The industry continues to suffer from import competition
The Yogurt and Similar Product Processing industry has had a rough five years and the prospects of an improvement seem very slim. Over the five years through 2011-12 industry revenue has fallen 10.4% per annum. In 2011-12, industry revenue is expected to decline 17.8% to reach £495 million, following a 19% decline in 2010-11, really damaging the industry after coming through the credit crunch relatively well.
Over the five years through 2016-17, industry revenue is expected to continue the fall, declining by 9.5% per annum to a value of £301 million. The five-year period will kick-off with another massive decline in 2012-13, where revenue is forecast to fall by 21%, enterprise numbers to decline by 10% and employment numbers to be cut by 16.1%. The level of domestic demand is expected to continue to fall for most of the next five-year period, only showing marginal growth in 2014-15 and 2016-17.
