INFOMINE Research Group, April 2010, Pages: 73
The report looks at Kazakhstan‘s market for building long-rolled steel and investigates the current standing of company-producers of the products. The report is composed of 9 Sections, contains 73 Pages, 16 Figures, 33 Tables and Appendix.
The report is a desk study. The following information sources were used when implementing the investigation:
- data from the Kazakhstan Statistic Agency, including official statistic issues;
- material from the company “InfoMine”;
- data from official customs statistics of Russia and Kazakhstan;
- material from the Ministries and Agencies of Kazakhstan (official data, placed at web-sites);
- material of metallurgical companies of Russia and Kazakhstan (reports, press-releases, newsletters and so on);
- “Metal-Currier” issues.
The first section of the report presents brief characteristics of the current standing of Kazakhstan's economy. The Section presents main macroeconomic indices of the country for the latest 5 years, describes measures, made by the country's authorities to mitigate the impact of the global financial-economic crisis, and estimates the impact of the crisis on the standing of Kazakhstan's economy as a whole and its mining-metallurgical complex in particular.
The second section of the report is devoted to the production of ferrous metals in Kazakhstan in 2000-2009. The section describes the dynamics of crude and rolled steel production in the country, presents brief characteristics of the current standing of producers of crude and rolled steel in Kazakhstan, their products, projects, realized in latest years, and prospective plans on commissioning new capacities.
The third section of the report is devoted to the standing of the square billet market in Kazakhstan. The section describes factors, governing the market, estimates prospects of expanding demand for square billet in the domestic market of Kazakhstan, presents data on imports of the product, and evaluates dynamics and pattern of square billet exports. In addition, the section presents brief characteristics and prospects of expanding exports of square billet from Russia, which is a leading supplier of the product to the market of Kazakhstan. In addition, the section describes comparative dynamics of prices on square billet, exported from Russia and Kazakhstan.
Section 4 is devoted to an estimation of the capacity of the long-rolled steel market in Kazakhstan. The section describes the pattern of production, in which rebar dominates as yet (ignoring billet), estimates apparent consumption of rolled steel by kind in 2005-2009. In addition, the section describes in detail the markets of individual kinds of long-rolled steel, manufactured in Kazakhstan, including quarterly dynamics of the production, export-import and apparent consumption of rebar, wire rod, bar and structural shapes in 2005-2009, as well as geographic pattern of imports of the products and its changes for the latest 5 years.
The fifth section describes price tendencies at world, Kazakhstani and Russian markets of long-rolled steel, analyses factors, governing the price dynamics. The price situation in the latest 2 years is described in detail. This section presents comparative dynamics of prices on various kinds of long-rolled steel in the Russian and Kazakhstani markets. In addition, prospects of increasing the world prices in nearest years have been evaluated.
The sixth section of the report is devoted to key factors, governing the market of long-rolled steel. The section describes both internal and external factors, governing the market of long-rolled steel in Kazakhstan.
The seventh section describes consumption of long-rolled steel. The section presents supply-demand balance of finished steel in Kazakhstan in 2007-2009. In addition, the section presents detailed analysis of consumption of long-rolled steel in the country with estimation of pattern of the consumption of distinct kinds of rolled steel by sector in 2005-2009.
The eighth section describes the standing of the building sector of Kazakhstan as a main consumer of long-rolled steel. The section presents data on the commissioning and building of houses, as well as regional patterns of investments in the building sector in 2004-2009, estimates prospects of increasing the investments and volumes of building, and, consequently, consumption of building rolled steel. In addition, the section estimates prospects of renewing communal utilities in Kazakhstan that would also result in additional consumption of long-rolled steel.
The ninth, final section of the report presents forecasts of production and consumption of crude steel and rolled steel in Kazakhstan, estimates prospects of end-uses, as well as describes projects on commissioning rolling facilities in the country in nearest years.
The Appendix presents contact data of rolled steel producers in Kazakhstan.
