Assessing and Comparing Storage Class Memories – Technologies and Companies
Web-Feet Research, Jan 2011
This study analyzes the technologies – i.e. storage density, power consumption, performance, system friendliness – for mature nonvolatile memory components: - Floating gate Flash memory: NOR (1-bit/cell), NOR (2-bits/cell), NAND (1-bit/cell), NAND (2-bits/cell), NAND (3-bits/cell), NAND (4-bits/cell)
- Trapped charge Flash memory: NOR (2-bits/cell), NAND (2-bits/cell), NAND (4-bits/cell) The study also analyzes a series of alternative technologies and technology variations:
- Ferroelectric memories - Magnetic memories - Phase change memories - Polymer memories - Nanotechnology memories - Resistivity change memories - Micromechanical probe memories, one-time programmable ROM memories
