EU Energy Innovation Policy Towards 2050

Description:
Is the EU on the right track to meet its stated objective – a true European energy security policy? Is the current architecture on which the EU gas security of supply policy is built able to deliver those responses needed in order to meet the growing risks and changing realities EU gas security faces? How should European institutions and regulation adapt and respond? What tools are available to secure gas supply?

Published by Claeys & Casteels Publishing in close cooperation with the Loyola de Palacio Chair (LdP), EU Energy Innovation Policy Towards 2050 tackles these questions by taking stock of today's EU gas security of supply governance. It is based on the four-tier program ‘A New EU Gas Security of Supply Architecture' organized by the LdP together with the Clingendael International Energy Programme (CIEP), the Fondazione ENI Enrico Mattei (FEEM) and Wilton Park Conferences (WPC) that took place in 2011.

Key Topics Covered:

- EU external energy relations vs. infrastructure
- Infrastructure vs. solidarity

ABOUT THE PUBLICATION PARTNER

The Loyola de Palacio Chair has been created in honour of the former Vice-President of the Commission and Commissioner for Energy and Transport (1999-2004) Loyola de Palacio (1950-2006). It is the ‘academic sister' of the Florence School of Regulation. The Chair hosted by the European University Institute within its Robert Schuman Centre conducts advanced research beyond disciplinary boundaries on feasible proposals for EU energy policy. Bringing together academics in the fields of law, economics and engineering it offers cross-disciplinary alliances and a platform for innovative thinking, dialogue and networking between academics, practitioners and decision-makers to define and propose feasible evolutions of EU energy governance.
