Beijing Yanqing Economic Development Zone

Beijing Yanqing Economic Development Zone (Beijing Yanqing EDZ), rated “BB” by China Knowledge in a research report on China’s industrial real estate published today. The EDZ was set up in 1992 as a municipal-level development zone upon receiving approval from the Beijing municipal government, and has an area of 3 sq km. The zone is located in Yanqing County in the northwestern part of Beijing, merely 45minutes’ drive from the city center. Beijing-Baotou Railway, Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway, Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu Highway and Badaling Highway go through the zone.
The zone is approximately five hours from Tianjin Port and six hours from Qinhuangdao Port. Beijing Capital International Airport is within one hour’s drive of the zone.
Beijing Yanqing EDZ’s major industries include pharmaceuticals, construction materials and food processing. It consists of the Great Wall Apparel Industry Park, a green food industrial park and a biopharmaceutical high-tech park.
By the end of 2010, nearly 500 enterprises had invested in the zone. The zone’s total revenue amounted to RMB 7.3 billion in 2008.
The major investors in the zone are domestic firms such as Beijing Fine Cotton, Xiadu Textiles, Beijing Silk Road, Beijing Yi’ou Grassland Dairy and Beijing Kowloon Pharmaceuticals. Beijing Kowloon Pharmaceuticals, a Hong Kong-invested firm, is located in the biopharmaceutical high-tech park within Beijing Yanqing EDZ. It is capable of manufacturing 30 million bottles of liquids, 200 million capsules and 300 million tablets annually. Beijing Binglinghua Dairy, with a total investment value of RMB 140 million, has an area of 14,500 sq m. It is a Beijing-based dairy products-maker and is capable of producing between 500 and 600 tons of milk daily.
Industrial parks rated BB are considered attractive at a below-average level. Industrial parks with this rating are typically either in the development stage or are lacking certain important elements. There are 50 with BB rating among 254 national and municipal level industrial parks.
