Langfang Export Processing Zone

Langfang Export Processing Zone rated “BB” by China Knowledge in a research report on China’s industrial real estate published today. The EPZ established by the State Council in 2005 has an area of 0.5 sq km and commenced operation in October 2008. It is the only state-level development zone in Langfang. Langfang EPZ is located in Langfang Economic and Technical Development Zone (Langfang ETDZ), which is a provincial-level development zone.
Langfang EPZ has an extensive land transportation system. It is 38 km from Beijing’s third ring road, and 50 km from downtown Tianjin. Five railways connect the city with Beijing, Tianjin, Jinan, Shanghai and Hong Kong. There are also three expressways and ten state highways, making Langfang an area of high density in terms of roads in China.
The EPZ also enjoys convenient access to transportation by water and air. It is 60 km from Beijing Capital International Airport and 70 km from Tianjin Binhai International Airport, airports which are China’s largest and 11th-largest airports in terms of cargo transport, respectively. The nation’s third-largest seaport, Tianjin Port, is 105 km away from Langfang EPZ.
Industries encouraged in Langfang EPZ are electronics and information technology, optical-mechanical-electronic integration, precision machinery and bonded logistics. Companies from 30 countries and regions have established their presence in Langfang EPZ. These companies include Australia’s BHP, Germany’s WET and Ruhr Mining, Japan’s Toshiba, Nissin, Mitsubishi and Fujitec and Sweden’s Sandvik.
The major domestic investors are COFCO and China Textiles. The industry clusters are formed by companies focus on optical-mechanical-electronic integration, communication equipment, auto parts, new materials and food processing.
Industrial parks rated BB are considered attractive at a below-average level. Industrial parks with this rating are typically either in the development stage or are lacking certain important elements. There are 50 with BB rating among 254 national and municipal level industrial parks.
