Chongqing Dianjiang Industrial Park

Chongqing Dianjiang Industrial Park (Chongqing Dianjiang IP) rated “B” by China Knowledge in a research report on China’s industrial real estate published today. The industrial park was approved and established by the Chongqing municipal government in 2003 as a municipal-level development park.
Chongqing Dianjiang IP is located in Dianjiang County approximately 120 km from Chongqing’s downtown and 110 km from Jiangbei International Airport. The county mainly relies on highways such as the Dianjiang-Zhongxian Expressway for transportation. Dianjiang County is rich in natural gas, and has proven reserves that total 55 billion cubic meters and account for 17% of Chongqing’s total. Dianjiang realized GDP of RMB 11.19 billion in 2010. The GDP of this district accounted for 1.42% of Chongqing’s total.
The industrial park’s pillar industries are auto and motorcycle parts manufacturing, food processing, pharmaceuticals and textiles. Nineteen enterprises had established themselves in Chongqing Dianjiang IP by the end of 2008. Enterprises that have invested in the park include Chongqing Jieli Wheel Manufacturing, Chongqing Bofei Biochemical Products, Chongqing Tiansheng Pharmaceutical and Wenzhou Xiangdong Shoes Machine.
Between 2003 and 2005, Chongqing Jieli Wheel Manufacturing Co Ltd invested RMB 200 million in Chongqing Dianjiang IP in a plant to produce motorcycle wheels. By the end of 2008, its annual production capacity was 6.5 million sets. It realized sales revenue of RMB 800 million in 2008 and controlled 80% of the motorcycle wheel market in Chongqing.
In 2009, the park attracted 16 new projects, with a total investment of RMB 2.8 billion (contracted).
Industrial parks rated B are viewed as poorly established. Much effort is necessary for the creation of an attractive investment environment in these parks. There are 45 with ‘B’ rating among the 254 national or municipal-level industrial parks located across the country.
