Chongqing Fengdu Industrial Park

Chongqing Fengdu Industrial Park (Chongqing Fengdu IP) rated “B” by China Knowledge in a research report on China’s industrial real estate published today. The industrial park was approved and established by the Chongqing municipal government in 2003 as a municipal-level development park.
Chongqing Fengdu IP consists of four subsidiary parks: Zhenjiang Fine Chemicals Industrial Park, which has an area of 2.5 sq km, Longhedong Industrial Park, which has an area of 2 sq km, Gaojiang Town Foodstuff Industrial Park, which has an area of 1.5 sq km and Shishuiping Industrial Park, which has an area of 6 sq km. Fengdu County, the home county of Chongqing Fengdu IP, is located in the geographic center of Chongqing, approximately 150 km from Chongqing’s downtown. Transportation mainly relies on highways and waterways. The Fengdu-Fuling Freeway and the Fengdu-Shizhu Freeway are under construction, while the Yangtze River traverses the county.
Fengdu County is rich in minerals and is a popular tourist destination. The county has 6 billion cubic meters of natural gas reserves and 1 billion tons of limestone. Two national AAAA-level scenery spots, Mingshan Mountain and Xueyu Cave, are located in the county.
The industrial park’s pillar industries are electronic machinery, textiles, fine chemicals and food processing. Last year, the park’s industrial output was RMB 4.3 billion. By the end of 2010, 33 enterprises had settled in the park.
One of the subsidiary parks, Zhenjiang Fine Chemicals Industrial Park, is located to the north of the Yangtze River adjacent to the Fengdu-Zhongxian Highway 17 km from Fengdu’s downtown area. It is mainly engaged in fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
According to development plans, it is expected to generate an industrial output of RMB 7 billion in 2012. Chongqing Unisplendour Chemical Co Ltd, a representative enterprise of the chemical industry, is situated in the park.
Longhedong Industrial Park, adjacent to the Fengdu-Shizhu Freeway, is mainly engaged in textiles and machinery. It expects to realize an industrial output of RMB 3 billion in 2012 according to its development plan.
Gaojiang Town Foodstuff Industrial Park, located 18 km from downtown Fengdu, is expected to generate an industrial output of RMB 2 billion in 2012. The Fengdu-Shizhu Highway traverses the park.
Shishuiping Industrial Park, which is mainly engaged in agricultural products processing, electronic machinery and textiles, is 5 km from downtown Fengdu. It is adjacent to the Fuling-Fengdu Freeway 8 km from the Chongqing-Lichuan Express Railway Station, which is under construction and is expected to commence operations in 2012.
Shishuiping Multifunctional Dock, which is also still under construction and will have an annual handling capacity of 3 million tons, is located in Shishuiping Industrial Park. The park expects to realize an industrial output of RMB 3 billion in 2011 according to its development plans.
Industrial parks rated B are viewed as poorly established. Much effort is necessary for the creation of an attractive investment environment in these parks. There are 45 with ‘B’ rating among the 254 national or municipal-level industrial parks located across the country.
