Chongqing Hechuan Industrial Park
China Knowledge Press, June 2011, Pages: 25
Chongqing Hechuan Industrial Park (Chongqing Hechuan IP) rated “B” by China Knowledge in a research report on China’s industrial real estate published today. The industrial park was approved and established by the Chongqing municipal government in 2003 as a municipal-level development zone.
Chongqing Hechuan IP has a well-developed transportation system. State Highway 212 runs through the park from east to west, while Suining-Chongqing Express Railway Station and an entrance to the Chongqing-Hechuan Freeway are adjacent to the park. Jiangbei International Airport, which ranked tenth in terms of passenger throughput in China in 2008, is approximately 70 km away and within a 40-minute drive of Chongqing Hechuan IP. Additionally, Hechuan Center Port, which is currently under construction, is only 3 km from the park. When construction is complete, kiloton ships will be able to sail to Shanghai directly.
Hechuan District, the home district of Chongqing Hechuan IP, is located at the junction of the Jialing River, the Fu River and the Qu River. As such, the district is rich in water and mineral resources. Coal and natural gas reserves amount to 1.8 billion tons and 45 billion cu m, respectively.
Human resources are also abundant in Hechuan District. There are six colleges and universities, including Chongqing Normal University (Yucai College), Chongqing Technology and Business University (International Economic Management College) and Southwest Agricultural University (Sanjiang College). A total of 30,000 college students are enrolled in the district.
The industrial park’s pillar industries include textiles and garments, biopharmaceuticals, equipment manufacturing and food processing. In 2010, gloss industrial output of the park was RMB 24.3 billion, up 138% year on year. Approximately 60 enterprises have set up businesses in the park.
Industrial parks rated B are viewed as poorly established. Much effort is necessary for the creation of an attractive investment environment in these parks. There are 45 with ‘B’ rating among the 254 national or municipal-level industrial parks located across the country.
